It is the goal of the company to provide innovative and cost effective engineering while providing the client with the highest level of customer service. The company has been experiencing good growth and with this growth various challenges needed to be addressed. Some of them were as follows: The need to hire additional staff to meet the growing needs of the company; developing a strategy to begin to delegate more responsibility to the other employees within the organization; a plan was needed to offer full time employment to two consultants that are currently working for the company; improving the business structure to make the company run more efficiently; the development of key business indicators to monitor the business activities on a monthly basis; and opening a second location for the business in Marin County.
With SBDC assistance, Munselle hired additional staff including an office manager; empowered the office manager to assume some of the owner’s responsibilities; developed a compensation plan; offered full time employment to his consultants; identified a location in Marin County for a second business; and has initiated a key business indicator report to record the company’s activities for each month.
The company experienced an 80 percent increase in sales comparing 2013 to 2012. Growth for the first five months of 2014 compared to the same period last year grew by 88 percent. Full time employees grew by two comparing 2013 to 2012. The use of consultant services grew by 17 percent comparing the first five months of 2014 to same period in 2013.
