“Working with the team at SBDC has made a huge impact on my current level of success and in growing my jewelry business. The time I continue to spend in SBDC workshops or individual advising sessions has opened my eyes to the aspects necessary to run a successful business. I always knew developing a plan, whether it was a Marketing plan or a Business plan, was important but I had no idea it would be the driving force of my daily routine. Now, half of my day is spent addressing operations and marketing issues, and the other half is satisfying my artistic side, who ‘just wants to be at the workbench.’”
Teddi Hosman is a successful Napa Valley jewelry artist of high caliber. She worked full time in the corporate world, left that career and followed her passion. She is now a full time artist, using skills and techniques, honed from 20 years as a jewelry artisan. She sells her work online, in galleries, and art festival venues. She also participates in Napa Valley Open Studios.
Having worked a corporate job for most of her career, becoming a jewelry designer was not an easy decision. And now, following her heart, Teddi says that, “Life is too short to not live your dreams.”
Teddi realized there are many talented artists in Napa Valley, which might be considered competition. But she also realized that joining art organizations and becoming a member of the art community was better strategy than competing.
Teddi worked with the SBDC and carefully crafted a marketing strategy. She attended the SBDC NxLevel program and wrote a comprehensive business plan.
Following the plan has led her to success. She has an impressive website, with clear targeted marketing. She has drawn upon her 20 years of designing, training, teaching, and selling jewelry and photography to create unique and very high quality, marketable designs. She has an Etsy website to sell work online at www.TeddiHosmanDesigns.Etsy.com.
Teddi’s new signature jewelry line, Lori’s Vineyard, is dedicated to her mother, Lorraine. It features grape leaves of silver, gold, bronze, or copper, with amethyst, peridot, or pearl “grape” clusters. Her jewelry is displayed at The Artists of the Valley Gallery, 1307 First Street in Napa, Stix & Stones at 1409 Lincoln Street, Calistoga, and Eminent Design, 450 First Street East, Sonoma.
Teddi is once again participating in Napa Valley Open Studios at NVOS/2012 - Studio #25. Her work may also be viewed at www.NapaValleyOpenStudios.info.
