“Working with the SBDC has been great support and grounding in my business. I tend to fly above the clouds with my dreams and ambitions, and only hit the ground running to make things happen. Bouncing ideas off the SBDC has helped make them real.”
Christine George is a professional Napa Valley artist who actually makes a very good living with her art - a worthy accomplishment in today’s world. She does this by combining a myriad of skills and talents, and has established a freelance art business that includes fine art, photography, graphic design, and teaching at art institutions.
Based on a lifelong love of horses, she has successfully crafted a niche in equine art, photography and graphic design. During her career, she worked at Landor Associates Design firm in San Francisco, and later started her own design business while teaching as assistant Department Chair for San Francisco Academy of Art University for ten years, and chairing the Corcoran College of Art and Design Department in Washington DC for 2.5 years. She currently teaches packaging design and is the Freshman Faculty Mentor at the Academy of Art University in SF.
Since moving to Napa Valley, the challenge was to establish herself as a Napa Valley artist, and enter the Napa Valley art scene with accomplishment and acclaim. She wanted to build her client base locally, plus expand nationally.
Christine’s career includes a Clio and 2 Addy Awards in graphic design, which were won working on corporate and packaging identities with Coca-Cola, Dole, Tree Top, DiMare, and Jergens, to name a few.
Based on this acclaim, she focused on Napa Valley equine vineyards and businesses and, in the past three years, has established accounts with Ghost Horse Vineyards, Black Stallion Winery, Conn Valley Vineyards, Bourassa Vineyards, Mainelli Family Olive Oil and Napa Caravan. She is currently “artist in residence” at Black Stallion Winery.
Christine has designed her print materials and her website. She keeps her media current and her writing is superb. She understands the value of niche marketing and strategic alliances. Christine works her passion, extends her joy, and brings a great deal to the community.
